Energy Independence Means Securing Australia’s Future

Yet somehow, we’ve allowed ideology and international agreements to weaken our ability to power our homes, businesses, and future.

I believe Australia must be energy independent. That starts with lifting the ban on nuclear energy and supporting reliable, affordable, Australian-made power. Relying on intermittent sources like wind and solar alone has led to skyrocketing prices and grid instability – and everyday Aussies are paying the price.

Power bills in the Fadden electorate and across the country have surged, while government after government has failed to take bold steps to fix it. Enough is enough. It’s time to bring back baseload generation like coal and gas, invest in nuclear technology, and stop forcing Australians to sacrifice affordability for ideology.

We also need to reassess our international obligations. Australia has committed to some of the harshest emissions targets in the developed world – and for what? The science remains highly contested, and real historical data shows that temperature extremes were more common in Australia well before modern industrialisation. We are punishing ourselves economically based on questionable modelling while other nations carry on building and expanding their fossil fuel industries without restriction.

This is not about denying the climate changes. It always has. But good policy is built on evidence, not fear, and right now we are driving industry offshore, shutting down manufacturing, and increasing household energy costs for no proven environmental benefit.

As someone already advocating for practical solutions in Fadden, I will continue fighting for energy policies that make sense – ones that restore sovereignty, support jobs, lower your power bills, and keep the lights on without compromise.

Australia has everything it needs to lead in energy – except the political will. I’m stepping up to change that.
