Crime in Fadden Is Out of Control. I’m Stepping Up.
Across our suburbs, from Labrador to Helensvale, locals are telling me the same thing. Crime is on the rise, and nothing is being done about it. People are fed up with feeling unsafe in their homes and on their streets. As someone who lives here and works with the community every day, I understand exactly what’s at stake.
Youth crime, break-ins, and violent assaults have become all too common across the Fadden electorate. It’s clear the current approach is not working. Weak sentencing, repeat offenders getting bail, and a justice system that puts criminal rights ahead of public safety – it all needs to change.
I believe in firm, clear consequences. If you do the wrong thing, you should be held accountable. No more revolving door bail. No more suspended sentences for serious crimes. If you’re old enough to terrorise the community, you’re old enough to face the consequences.
We also need consequences for magistrates who let serious offenders back onto the streets time after time. When these serious offenders reoffend while on bail, and they often do, there should be repercussions for the magistrates who allow them to walk free.
I also back the right of Australians to defend their homes. Castle law should be standard. If someone breaks into your house, you shouldn’t be punished for protecting your family. The law should support you – not the criminal.
This isn’t only about being tough on crime. It’s about restoring respect for the law, giving police the support they need, and making our neighbourhoods safe again. This is what I’m already working towards, and it’s what I’ll continue to fight for in Canberra.
